What is Platelets (TPK)?
platelets - the cells that help blood clot
Platelets are the small cells that help blood clot. Counts that are too low or too high affect bleeding and clotting risk.
Platelets are made in the bone marrow and circulate for about ten days. The count is part of the blood panel and any abnormal result should be followed up, since both low and high levels matter.

What does low Platelets (TPK) mean?
Low platelets (thrombocytopenia) can reflect infection, medications, alcohol, B12 deficiency, or more rarely bone marrow disease. Very low counts increase bleeding risk.
What does high Platelets (TPK) mean?
High platelets (thrombocytosis) are usually reactive to inflammation, iron deficiency, or surgery. A persistent marked elevation needs investigation.
